PDS accepts complete beginners of any age through to advanced students.
Your Child's Natural Progression Through Classes at Penelopes
Welcome to the school
- Ballet bunnies and melody movement classes aimed at nursery pupils from 2 years. These classes offer a gentle introduction to all things dance, with a strong emphasis on the enjoyment of movement and music.
- Preparatory classes for infants from 5 years in Ballet, Tap, Musical Theartre/ Theatre Craft, Freestyle/Modern Jazz/Gymnastic Dance
- Primary Classes as above, aimed at pupils 5 years plus in all the genre listed above.
- Entry to the junior school from 9 years plus. Grades 1-6 in all the core subjects. Pupils will now be encouraged to take enhancement classes in chosen subjects and will also be offered the chance to perform in festival representing Penelopes Dance Studio in the festival Performance Team - The Co. at Penelopes
- Entry to the upper school from 11 years plus will see the introduction of additional classes in contemporary dance and pointe work preportation also including classical pas deux
- One to one tuition is available to all in all subjects and guidance can be given to students preparing for GCSE in Dance.
- All pupils of Penelopes will be offered regular IDTA examinations and performance opportunities at theatres locally, and across the UK.

As you are Ambassadors for Penelope's always create a positive attitude whenever you are at the studio, performing, competing or wearing PDS Logo-wear.
We believe in Dance.. in it's camaraderie, of many moving as one..
Be Polite and treat everyone at the studio with respect and as you would wish to be treated.
Work together as a team. Show commitment, loyalty and honesty to one another.
Treat the studio as your home and with the respect you would give to your home.
Always place rubbish in the bin provided.
We believe in dance.. In its discipline its technique and the character it builds
Respect for the Art, Teacher and One's self are gained by the preparation for class, therefore…
- Dress neatly, understand and respect that each subject has its own style and needs the correct attire (dance wear and dance shoes) to achieve the correct technique.
- Hair should always be neatly groomed in either a bun (exam style) or french plaits secured (festival/ performance style). These may be viewed on the PDS Website. There should be no visible fringes.
- No earrings or jewellery should be worn to class, and chewing gum should be discarded before entering the studio for obvious health and safety reasons
- Keep your data file with you in your bag, in case notes need to made during class or letters from teachers etc need to be taken home or stored safely for the future.
- Keep your belongings neatly stored in your bag, with all items clearly named. Do not bring valuables to the studio.
